Beast Mode to Vegas - 2022

The quote "The journey is my home" by Muriel Rukeyser resonates with my soul! I can only stay still for a certain amount of time before I get restless...then I do something EXTREME. In 2010, I took my first month long road trip with Beast Mode (a stuffed bear that at one point in time was my alter ego and one of the most important gifts I've ever received). Through the years and with the addition of a human bear, the trips have continued and bring me so much joy.

When a required work trip to Vegas came to my attention, I immediately started planning an absurd adventure. My new coworkers had the best faces and reactions to my idea of driving to Vegas...ALONE. If they ONLY knew what's been done in the past.

Goodbye to those of you that are immediately done reading another word knowing that THE Ella Bear is not on this trip with me...she is not pleased either! We are hoping to get back to our traveling shenanigans soon but until then I'm all you've got!

Feel free to shout out great stops along this route if you know of any!

My new favorite website and app is RoadTrippers! You can put in a destination and find all kinds of things to do along your route! It links to hotels, places to see, and things to do...then it shows you the time it will take and cost of gas to get there:)

I'm thinking it would be funny to compare and contrast trips and travels in my 20s to this first massive road trip of my 40s but the funny thing about your 40s is that you never know if you'll be too tired to follow through on the big ideas so don't hold your breath!

How do yo prepare for 2-week road trip as a 40 year old?

You have enough savings and sense to rent a car and not jack up your own car!

Fill an ENTIRE suitcase with plant-based meals that you can make in hotels b/c your insides can't handle life on the road food!

Enjoying the last night in town with a little taco Tuesday and a documentary instead of partying your face off like back in the day! This should make the Day One ride way more productive.

Contrast #1 - What preparation looks like the day before a road trip in your 40s: get the car packed before a chill night with your family. 20 somethings: just go out and it will all come together!

Goodnight y'all! Looking forward to checking in along the way.
