COVID-19: Week 4

This blog has turned into what we are eating, what we are learning and how are we filling up our time. I think this is what life is supposed to be but we've gotten so far away from it that it feels unnatural. Here are the updates for week 4.

Graphic Design Class: The human Bear has been on kids messenger on FB for about two weeks now and she already knows how to do so many things that I don't even know exist. Apparently we all needed mustaches and repeated check-ins through social media even though we are in the same house 24/7!

Plant Based Meal of the week: BBQ chickpea tacos. Everyone liked them, AND THAT NEVER HAPPENS! Yes, the human Bear also has her hand on the ONE non plant based item we let her have that night (sour cream). She loves to be contrary!

When you sweep for fun! I'm pretty sure I used to do this in the 80s but it went more like: sweep garage so you don't fall when you blast Boys II Men and choreograph a dance ON roller skates. This looked more like a pitiful ploy for something.

Proof that we were all happy about it. Jason only takes pictures when he's happy haha and the child doesn't like us enough to fake that face!

Roll with it Class: I jumped on Zoom to have a work meeting with the fabulous Dr. Gia Tyson but had forgotten that Jason used my computer last for a Zoom meeting. Yes folks, that is the Golden Girls' living room backdrop behind me and I could NOT figure out how to get rid of it during the meeting. Professional is my middle name!

Acting Class: Girl rolls out of the back saying she's Harley Quinn. I don't even know who that is or why she knows but I guess this is accurate!

Networking Class: Thank you Aunt Emi for sending us your Albertson's monopoly coupons! This will certainly be used and paid forward on the coupons we don't use! There are so many people looking out for the human Bear in this world.

Getting Old Class: You must now ice everything after running. If you noticed that there are no longer updates with the speedometer on our street it's b/c I think it legit tweaked my hammy. Hasn't been right since!

ELA: I've been a fan of Wit & Wisdom for awhile. Module 4 is about the digestive system and keeps encouraging eating vegetables. THANK YOU!

Just typing out ELA reminded me that a few years ago, the human Bear asked if I named her Ella b/c I taught ELA and they are almost the same word. Who thinks like that at 5? The even more absurd part is that Jason wanted to name her Ella Sue so when you say it really fast it sounds like LSU. Thank GOODNESS that didn't stick but somehow the first name did. She is about as random as both of us:

Does anyone want to watch my dance?

Still eating class: Peas over couscous and a way over nuked potato with vegan gravy.

Persistence Class: This was NOT an easy puzzle but I loved the challenge. You def can't just pic out the edges!

Creating Class: We are finally opening old purchases that we need to use and it's producing many boxes. I walked out into the carport and the human Bear was making a tomb she says...this will have to be a frequent check in project! Day One
Spring has Sprung Class: LOOK AT ALL THOSE MULBERRIES! Things we learned from YouTube and the previous home owners: put down a tarp when they are ready for picking and shake the branches. Apparently they fall off easily. We will let y'all know how it goes:)

Spring Cleaning Class: What is a baseboard she says...well, now you know!

I'm not going to lie, it can get painful sitting through some of these lessons when they already know the content. This cracked me up that she figured out how to make it go faster and the voice is hilarious. Maybe this is what they mean about kids learning at their own pace. I knew she had some kind of computer chip in her brain.

Lindsey "Uhm how can you even tell what she's saying?" Human Bear, "Uh she just said pay attention to the word 'absorbed', it's in the FIRST sentence on this page and I already know what it means...(eye roll)" Lord help me! She has now begun schooling herself while I go outside and run or work in the yard. She will be fine!

Just to prove I was working on it!

WTF Class: About to go on a bike ride and I hear something fall on the ground. Lindsey "Uhm, is that a bullet that just fell off of your body?" Human Bear "Yes" end of story. Neither of us acted as if there was anything to follow up on with that...

Hosting Class: Another birthday sent inside due to COVID-19. The human Bear decided to put together her own surprise part for Jason. Things got silly!

Solution 1: B/c no one could come over, the human Bear decided the party guests would be her stuffed animals so she worked for a week at night to create party hats and decorations for the "guests"!
Solution 2: With only plant based items in the house and not having any sweets we learned how to make a plant based brownie and banana "ice cream". It isn't pretty but it tasted like chocolate and that worked for us! We clearly also didn't have the candles needed but there was a leftover chocolate 8 from Ella's birthday and she then made the 3 out of foil. hahaha She doesn't quit folks.

Brownie Frosting: Done all by herself

Hiring Vendors Class: Lovella was posted up and ready to service snacks for the party

Event Planning Class: Party in Parish is ready to go!

Feedback Class: We think he was happy but we will ask him to fill out a survey. Now off to 8 am work...yes, this all happened before 8 am!

Nothing like a loving b-day card from your wife! Here is just a sample of the fun stuff going on in our relationship while quarantined: REAL Convos this week: Lindsey "Sorry I'm dressed like Joe Dirt" Jason "That's what you always look like... | " Jason "I really liked your pesto in that meal" Lindsey "That was guacamole" Jason "I don't like guacamole" Lindsey "yeah you've been saying that for years but I never saw you try it so I snuck it in your lunch" Jason (giggles and won't make eye contact)

Good Humor Class: This is the ONLY reason the human Bear is finding this ELA module even remotely entertaining. It's mostly just confirming me being right about healthy food and her least favorite thing in the world is me being right.

SPRING BREAK! Kind of...I still get to see Ashley about once a week...pool width apart!

Plant Based Meals are improving! Teriyaki Brussel Sprouts and Mushrooms over brown rice

Daddy-Daughter Time: There's just never enough! Chess on LSU's campus on a beautiful day.

The most social butterfly ever! This butterfly has landed on everyone and just comes to hang out when we are outside. Never seen anything like it.

Finding Beauty Class: This looks like a good LSU flower to me, the human Bear, "maybe we can mail it to Coach O!"

Mommy's Tired of Cooking Class: EVERYBODY WATCH WHAT I'M DOING CAUSE YOU HAVE TO DO IT SOON FOR YOURSELVES!

Cooking Lesson Class: Chef Traci Vincent is the BEST! The human Bear must not have liked what I've been dishing out b/c she friended a chef on messenger and is working on some cooking lessons! haha Y'all are so nice to this child!

We are hoping everyone is staying safe and well! We miss getting out to enjoy our friends and family in the beautiful weather. Hopefully soon we will be able to return but until then, our thoughts are with all of those that have been impacted by COVID-19. Have a happy weekend with your peeps. Until next week...

TEASER: Upcoming shit show: Lindsey attempts to learn the mechanics of a washing machine and pool pump...never a dull moment.
