COVID-19: Week 9

As everything begins to reopen, we are more cautious than ever until there's more information on the impact. This is NOT how we saw the summer going and any road trips are definitely out of the question for us but we will choose to make the best it. We won't be making it to all these fun sounding events but we do miss everyone:( This is when it's going to be the hardest to stay home but it's important to us to stay safe and keep others safe as well.

What Are We Doing?

Dropping food for the Wesley Grandparents means you must create the menu. How else would they know what they are eating? These two are the most precious. My mother's day gift was to get to stay home by myself and it was quiet and peaceful!

Mother's Day gift #2: enjoy the beautiful outdoors and order some curbside plant-based food so I don't have to cook! Thanks Bears for putting up with all of my crazy requirements.

Teeth are just falling out left and right over here! I think they were all ones that still needed to come out but I've stopped checking closely.

Trying to run WHILE jump roping is a TERRIBLE idea! The concrete won. Scraps from toes to her forehead, bruises all over and she immediately asked for Jason to bring her a bell (clutched in her right hand). It rang twice before I cussed and threatening to throw it away!

Returning to prior learning about how to use and set up a spreadsheet. I love how interested she is! Whatever she chooses to do or be in this world she's going to dominate...now to just make sure she is kind with her powers.

We found the human Bear's list of goals in 2016 when we were looking for a notebook to keep our scrabble score. We haven't always been good at reflecting on our goals but this one was funny b/c it had tying shoes and doing cartwheels. These used to be so frustrating for her but now she's starting to see some things just need time. I am still working on this lesson as well:)

Swimming off the pain! I can't stop seeing that fall in my head and I'm not usually one to overreact on the falls (my strategy is usually to holler "tough buddy club" and keep moving). This one was in the middle of the street though and I saw her head bounce off the pavement. I am so glad she has all of her adult teeth. Lesson learned: probably none. haha Hoping the salt water cleans all of the yuck out!

Learning how to operate the dishwasher from start to finish! Amen

We've started doing our own tattoos at home.

"Look, I'm a Greek God" Yes, Bear, yes you are...add to the list of things she is up to speed on that I knew nothing about until I was old.

Jason finds this gross b/c he says that's where your feet go. This reminds me of my childhood! Doing schoolwork from the floor builds character. Right?

The hardest parts about going through stuff when you are moving is the silly sentimental stuff. This was the "artwork" above our bed. Not because we chose it but b/c when the human Bear was supposed to be going to sleep at night, she would sneak in our bedroom and hang up her artwork while we were up front. This is what built out over the years we lived there. We fancy huh?

The human Bear can now braid. Here's the proof.

Getting bored enough for old favorites to make a come back...bubbles and giggles!

What Are We Wearing This Week?

Masks, wipes and hand sanitizer is what we are wearing the most these days when we venture out for our groceries!

I was never one to get myself and the human Bear matching outfits so this will do!

What Are We Eating This Week?

Add breakfast muffins to the list of things she can do without us now. Can't remember what I was working on but she's got the food processor back out and some muffins going. Still working on the oven: she can turn it on and set everything but the strength to hold pan in one hand and open the oven with the other needs some work.

When the job overworks the hubs, you will squeeze into a tiny antique school desk to have lunch together!

More chickpea and lentil curry over brown rice and greens

There's a hot coffee but you'll notice an empty chair. This is what we are NOT eating/drinking. Jason has to repeatedly heat up his coffee in the microwave. Just another difference of us...I wake up early to drink my coffee hot and in peace! haha We also miss our UU Church peeps and look forward to returning when it's safer for all:)

MJ's Cafe: Thank you for the break from cooking while helping me keep it plant-based for the most part!

Always a next level: when the demitasse is no longer enough, the human Bear insisted it needed a garnish!

When you buy big treats so infrequently and realize your mostly plant-based child has NO clue that you don't rip the entire packaging off b/c most people keep these things for awhile. haha One cookie and toss the package, that's what I'm talking about! Progress folks. Progress. When she saw me putting the extras in a ziplock she asked, "Are we going to go deliver those to people?" hahaha

Yard Update

Turk's Cap: Edible flowers, attract butterflies and they are pretty!

And an appropriate close out to the week is how the human Bear and her father are so similar. I just get random riddles about money and they are pleased when I get it.

If I say I'm busy or working, now the human Bear will "respect" my space by going into her room and hitting me up on Kid's FB Messenger. haha I'm hoping for some SERIOUS sun this week so we can get back in the pool. Rainy days are LOOOOONG!

We aren't continuing to avoid people b/c we want to but we are making decisions for our little family that we hope everyone can respect.
