As I'm snuggled up in my fancy Super8 bed, I posted a few pictures of our Memphis trip but I was way too tired to even think about blogging. Thank goodness I did that because I forget about my peeps that get on IG but aren't big into FB. Katie commented that we better be staying with her if we were going through Nashville. UHM, OF COUSRE WE ARE (as I cancelled our hotel...whoopsie and thank you for having us at the last minute AND on your birthday)!
Meeting new friends is always fun. This was no Super8 folks, we were spoiled for the best night sleep I've had so far on this road trip!
Surprisingly, the age range still worked out well and everyone played nicely together. For those of you with kids, you know it's always a crap shoot!
Bubbles, trains and water colors...what more do you need?
The rain was INSANE and I thought about skipping the Nashville experience and just heading to the next location...clearly that didn't happen. You know it's good stuff when I'm willing to let these boots get messy!
Thanks to William for some great suggestions on spots to see in Nashville! We heard that these murals can have a long wait time (and it's hard to tell) but apparently when it's pouring rain no one is there and everyone looks at you like you're crazy when you have a stuffed bear, a human bear and you ask the tiny human bear to take pictures of you while holding an umbrella that outweighs her...the struggles one has while traveling with me!
Thank goodness for a few other silly folks like us showing up. I felt bad for just a moment that I asked them to stand in the rain and get our picture but not bad enough not to ask (I let them use our umbrella while they took the pic and she only almost got hit by a car once b/c she was trying to back up far enough to get us both in the shot...thank you new friends!)
I knew a friend from high school opened her own shop in Nashville but we were soaking wet and starving so I decided we probably didn't have time to stop by. Again upon William's (you know we trust anyone with the nickname Ducky) suggestion we checked out some great spots to eat and I googled Apple and Oak just in case...I should have just looked up first b/c it was 250 ft away from our food spot. haha I guess we can make this work. Sadly, we missed Allison but we were able to check out the second location of Apple and Oak. We loved this store!
The human bear got herself some sunglasses and tried to get some for Beast Mode as well...sometimes I have to put my foot down. Only one pair bears, we can share!
No excuses! Settled in to the hotel
The dreaded hair washing and attempt at a straight part! Don't let the smile fool you...it wasn't all fun and games.
The VERY first thing the human bear said when I told her we would be driving through TN was, "OH THAT'S WHERE MY MUSIC TEACHER MOVED TO, WE HAVE TO SEE HER!" and so, of course, we did. Good teachers are the best people on the planet! She got up early and met us for breakfast before a busy day, tuned our ukulele, and gave a quick lesson. Look at those happy faces! Thank you so much for meeting up with us.
Too many cute clips to share them all but here is one: https://youtu.be/XCiV28VikK8
I don't want to ruin the next stop but there WILL be water buffalo!
