Lady Liberty

Just sitting around and drinking coffee...and I say, hhmmm maybe we should try and see the Statue of Liberty today because of the potential rain the rest of the week. That sends us into what I assume is a very typical NY lifestyle type of situation. We have to leave the house in less than 30 minutes (no one is dressed or has eaten breakfast at the time of the decision) so here's the attempt to get to the train on time for tickets. hahahaha

Made it to get the tickets minutes before the train arrived! Someone is excited about their first time ever on a train.

Stuff this granola bar in your face and we will get something when we can!

Stop Fifty-Two: Grand Central Terminal - 89 E 42nd St, New York, NY 10017

While walking to the next location, the Human Bear says, "Oh look a bunny!" then asks what this is for and I told her that it's funny b/c it's for people that like to take nudy booty pictures and she said, "well why would they put a bunny on there? That's tricky for kids!" haha why are things so easy for kids to compartmentalize that most adults can't do?

None of the pictures will do this next adventure justice but I tried my best. The cloudy day was actually perfect and people sitting up at the top missed this GREAT view from the front of the boat.

Stop Fifty-Three: Circle Line Sightseeing Cruise - Pier 83, W 42nd St, New York, NY 10036

Dramatic interpretation of the difficulty of balancing on a boat by the Human Bear

First good view of the Statue of Liberty

Mesmerized by it all.

The city views were equally captivating!

I took this pic and it's awesome! Just need to crop that dude's arm out but I love my phone camera.

It was almost chilly so of course the Human Bear steals my jacket.

A little foreshadowing...

Stop Fifty-Four: Dallas BBQ for lunch

Time Square! There are so many HUGE tv screens all the time.

Stop Fifty-Five: Time Square touristy stuff all over

One must stop at the Disney store and Old Navy...b/c you can't just find that anywhere!

Now for the way home...

We may have sat on the wrong train for 30 minutes after not receiving the memo that they changed the tracks! Whoopsie, thank goodness someone asked us what we were doing and led us to the right place. The Human Bear was excited, as always, to feel special as the only one on the train. We should have known something was up at that point.

It's so nice to be in the same place for long enough to get some groceries and healthy food going. The Human Bear looks more thrilled than she really was at this moment to have quinoa chili and a salad.

and the throw back for tonight's viewing: The Goonies!

Surviving the first big trip to New York City earns a glass of wine for me:)
