WHILE coming down off of our sugar high from Hershey Park, we headed to our next stop in Maryland. Knowing us, we saw just how close the state line was though and this is the human bear LITERALLY just running up to Delaware for a quick pic so we can get back on the road. haha

I'm so glad we stopped here. This really did look like an airport terminal. I am convinced we have now seen the most impressive welcome center in the country. They had food, stores, seating and more!

Alright Delaware was cool and all but after I saw the photo of this mural that went viral awhile ago, I knew it was a place I wanted to show the Human Bear. Little did I know, stopping at this mural would send us on an awesome journey through a day FULL of Harriet Tubman greatness.

Members of The Harriet Tubman Organization group were excited to share stories and showed us a great 30 minute movie for kids about Harriet Tubman's life. This nice lady explained the quilt to us that the community made as a tribute to the journey.

We enjoyed the movie together. We were both inspired by Harriet's strength and motivation and talked about how brave and smart she was to be able to do what she did.

This is the face when empathetic tiny humans witness injustice. It's OK to see, feel and discuss and so that's what we did.

"I really hope she gets her dad out safely!" Me too

Although it was a heavy museum full of heavy topics, as soon as we hit the doors, the Human Bear was off and running down the streets of Downtown Cambridge. This is def one of my new favorite places. It was slow paced, kind and calm.

While we were at the Harriet Tubman Organization, they told us we REALLY needed to go and see the Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad National Historical Park. This whole place was breathtaking!

The Human Bear was given a packet to fill out so that she could become a Junior Ranger for Team Tubman. This activity book was great because it was NO joke! Most places we go to have something for children but it's usually insulting to their intelligence. To get a badge, she had to complete 6 activities in the book and some of them needed you to read VERY closely at all of the exhibits throughout the entire museum. I really appreciated it and the Human Bear and Beast Mode internalized so much more information because they had to work to get it. #teachermom

Not only did they have academic activities but there were also other thought provoking activities. We stopped in each room to reflect on things that can be done today that were not legal in the past and also come up with symbols we associate with freedom.

She was so proud to earn this badge. I would LOVE to go back.

We had two nights in the same hotel so we headed to the grocery store for dinner. This was a mural on the wall of a movie theater next to the store. The Human Bear yelled out, look, it's like Wicked. I've been prepping her for some cool stuff in NY but it did make me laugh that she doesn't think of The Wizard of Oz...I'm always just a little off on this whole parenting thing!

I'm not really big on shout outs to hotels but there was something about this Comfort Inn and Suites. They had the nicest people working there, cleanest rooms, great gym AND an indoor pool. The pool was supposed to be heated though and I'm not certain that was happening.

By morning it was time to say goodbye to Maryland...but, I kept seeing this lighthouse on everything so I decided to try and find it. Oh look, there it is!

Stop Forty-One: Choptank River Lighthouse: 100 High St, Cambridge, MD 21613

Not totally sure what this was but it was time for these three bears to hit the road!

Where to next? Nobody knows...
