Walking in Memphis

Before you can walk in Memphis, you must stop in Kentwood (that's how the saying goes right?). SiriusXM played JUST what we needed as we were getting off of the interstate to check out the Britney Spears Museum in Kentwood, LA

As soon as the song was over, I asked the human bear what her favorite Britney song is, "hhmm, I think it's called Work, B%$&h." Well, alrighty then, fire up the tablet!

Stop One: Kentwood Historical & Cultural Museum (to be fair, that's the real name but I've heard it's mostly Britney Spears stuff). We will return with Jason one day and get back to you all. Sit on the edge of your seats until then...

Sadly, they are only opened three days a week and it was NOT one of the days that we showed up...and that's how you get two Baton Rouge ladies creeping around a closed museum blasting Britney songs and dancing on the lawn.I think Britney would be proud!

There was one poster of Brit in the window and upon seeing it, the human bear realizes for the first time, "Wait, that's her? Britney Spears is white? For my whole life I thought she was brown!"

Off we go, we have GOT to get a breather from Louisiana but Mississippi only gets a quick stop at the welcome center.

Stop Two: Mississippi Welcome Center, I-55, Osyka, MS 39657

There was a great debate if Beast Mode was allowed to use the inside bathroom or if she had to use it outside where the puppies must go...the human bear decided to be harsh and I didn't have enough energy left to intervene. Yes, we are only in Mississippi so far! Beast Mode was humiliated.

Anyone that knows me knows that I LOVE Chattanooga, TN. We decided to start in Memphis though and make our way across the state to see what else they have to offer.

Stop Three: 3910 Interstate 55, mile marker 3.10 Memphis, TN 38116. This place was clean and pretty and it's just the welcome center.

I didn't realize that while in Memphis one can look across the Mississippi and SEE ARKANSAS! We can't pass up and opportunity to scratch off another state so here we are...in the pouring rain, while they are trying to close up, taking stickers and pins. haha Sorry ladies and thank you for your kindness.

Stop Four: 704 N Service Rd, West Memphis, AR 72301-2102

Once you switch from heels to boots, the sparkling tutu and flashy shirt are apparently perfect for a workout! This place made me sad about where we live...y'all we have the SAME big river, why don't we do something to attract people and healthy habits?

Stop Five: Tom Lee Park in Memphis: Riverside Dr, Memphis, TN 38103

Any sane person would just throw caution to the wind in an adventure like this...but I'm not sane apparently and far from the average Bear. So instead, I decide to try and keep us eating healthy and join two separate workout groups to hold me accountable. I am hoping to be more successful this time than last time (Dana, no pressure but I NEED you!)

Stop Six: Super 8 (we are classy folks!) From our balcony, we were in TN but right at the foot of the bridge and could see AK:)

Day Two on the road, National Civil Rights Museum in Memphis. We spent two hours walking, reading and talking and then they had a Young Activists Innovation Station with a kids' class called "Small but Mighty Story time Series" I would highly recommend checking this out!

Stop Seven: National Civil Rights Museum 450 Mulberry Street Memphis, TN 38103

The class did a mini protest and talked about organizing, making signs, and speaking out to stand up for others!

The human bear had to take hers back to the hotel while she thought about what to say...then make it bilingual (never the simple way folks...NEVER!) I'm impressed.

As you can see we changed into workout clothes, went BACK to Tom Lee park, knocked out our jump rope exercise and walked to Beale Street to be followed up with the Peabody Ducks.

Stop Eight: Beale Street, Union Ave, Peabody Hotel

One of Daddy's Favorites! Bonnie Raitt...B.B. King guitars were AMAZING! Thank goodness we finally found a penny press machine and then she made a pair of glasses that everyone she saw complimented.

It's not official unless you get a picture with the man himself: Mr. Peabody Duck Master

I can't even TELL y'all how funny this was! They said they had new ducks and it was their first day...and it showed. The ducks refused to come out of the fountain and go to the elevator. Some ducks went to the elevator and then ran back to the fountain. All of the kids were laughing and getting splashed with water while trying to come up with ways to solve the issue. The women in the green jacket in this video was snapping at the ducks at one point like that was going to help and the video does NOT do it justice. They had at LEAST 15 hotel employees working together and it took a looooooong time to get it done and then everyone cheered. Not exactly the Duck Master I was expecting but way better story!

We then had to walk all the way back to the car. The human bear has grown up so much that she's been a blast and can really hang the entire day without meltdowns. After our full day, this was the walk back to the car: https://youtu.be/8Zo0t2BqbQA

It was tiring, but not too tiring to do more monkey bars and make new friends!

These two kept trying to outdo each other with monkey bar tricks and seeing which one could go further on the bars before falling. Again, Louisiana, come on...I'll chip in for the monkey bars! Let's do this.

Finally making it back to the hotel...and too tired to remember how to use a bed properly. If that's not enough proof that one is delirious, maybe this will convince you. Have you ever been so tired that your fingers can't even open a microwave? https://youtu.be/J8Yc18eXDjg

There's an ENTIRE bed here human bear...

NEVER too tired to support my people though...GEAUX RAPTORS, YES Game 3, let's do this!
